This photo capture of Alma, Kansas was taken a little over a mile away on a hill in the setting sun. I like the way this came out in an almost impressionistic way. There had been some burning in a field off in the distance not portrayed in this photo that had given a haze to the far-away landscape.
For comparison, on January 1, 2008, I had taken a similar photo of Alma in the freezing winter, Kansas Rural Town, with my then very new digital camera.
