Is that true about ants? Really? My peonies are swarming in ants.
Long ago, an old and wizened woman (everyone had called her Gram) told me about the ants and peonies. My peonies are swarming in ants too.
I’m so glad I came across this entry, I have pink peonies in my back garden and every year I wondered why the buds were covered in ants, I always thought they kept it free of aphids… but now I know the real reason, thanks Anna
You know, ants are great for eating up aphids, plant lice, and fleas too. So maybe ants are multi-purpose in the plant and animal kingdom.
Our peonies are late in blooming, as with other flowers because of the long and severe cold we had. The ants are helping though.
Thanks for commenting and stopping by, townie.
