Anna’s Lizard Lucky

Eastern Collared Lizard

While out gathering rock for her garden, this little lizard approached Anna. She had me get my camera from the truck to capture the little guy’s image. He never ran away. I took several pictures and put the camera away. We picked the little guy up and decided to take him home to see if we could raise him ourselves. Anna had raised lizards before. We set him up a habitat, talked to him, and researched some about lizards on the internet.

The next day several good and lucky events took place in our lives and we were feeling downright wonderful. Not all these events would have happened if we had not been on yet another journey, this time a mission of acquiring crickets for our lizard. Since all these lucky events took place because of the lizard, we decided to name the lizard Lucky.

Later in the day after our journey and a pleasant nap, we discovered Lucky missing. He was gone. Somehow, he had escaped. Also even later, something really bad happened to Moppet; he was very sick and had the jitters bad. We figured maybe the lizard ran in front of Moppet and Moppet dined on the little fellow.

Anna did some soul searching this morning and for some reason had the feeling the sun would direct her to Lucky. So, she turns around and saw the sun shining through her window with its rays touching the very chair she was sitting in. She moved the chair and the sun hit the floor. Anna shuffled some cords and things under her desk, Lucky ran out, and across the spot the sun was shining upon, whereas she caught him.

As far as Moppet goes, he has been known to eat things he should not eat and our guess is he did it again. Moppet recovered pretty fast after the incident yesterday and has done great since. As a matter of fact, he is ready to star in another video soon. Last time I let him run loose, he chased some donkeys across a field - geez.
