Marijuana, also known as Indian Hemp, grows wild and in abundance around the Kansas creeks, fertile fields, and abandoned contryside places. I found this lush batch growing near an old barn and farm equipment. Marijuana used to be grown for hemp fiber to produce ropes, paper, and nets.

The hemp also grows along the highways and back roads here and there. If anyone out there is thinking that they’ll go and pick some to smoke, be warned, the hemp that grows wild out there is very good for making rope but is very low in THC.
So this is where all those inspired photos originates?
I was going to ask if that’s legal.
There are a lot of hemp products on the market again these days. Even a hemp beer. I’ve often wondered where they’re getting the hemp.
Now that’s one plant I haven’t seen in the woods - yet.
Hi razzbuffnik and welcome. I was told by the locals that if one smokes the wild hemp, it will make one very sick.
Hi Bill. LOL You crack me up!!!!
Hi Robin. Well, the wild hemp is legal. The police knows if some fool decides to smoke it, the fool will puke his/her guts out. LOL I haven’t heard of hemp beer. Where does one get the legal hemp to make beer?
Hi Bo. Keep looking. It might be near those wild strawberries.
Thanks for your comments and stopping by.
Wild hemp is smokable. It is harsh and gives just a wanna-be high. It will not make you sick. It is not nauseating. Life makes it’s way, so that even tho hemp by definition is less than 1% THC, each year it increases. Like traditional commercial weed, the bud is your best chance.
Hi Christen-Mitchell. Hmmm…. didn’t know this. I looked at your hemp website. Very informative and well put together. Thanks for the info and for posting.
Peace & Happy New Year,
Anna
