Into The Storm

On Sunday the 15th, we had traveled north on Highway 99, a two-lane highway snaking into northeast Kansas. The sunny sky forecasted was building with storm clouds. As we approached Westmoreland, we stopped on a crested hill, the storm was blooming overhead.

I crossed the road interested in the wildflowers growing as horses in the field watched us. I gazed up to the sky seeing hail clouds. This was becoming a familiar sight.

We traveled to the other side of Westmoreland, onto a winding dirt road, past wheat fields, creeks, and farms, to a farm where Preston was to photograph a foster dog. The storm brooded overhead as we shot pictures; Preston captured photos of the black lab, and I captured photos of the landscape, kittens, chickens, and a girl feeding a calf.

After leaving the farm, our plans were to go further north for a photo shoot at a waterfall. Instead, we turned south and headed home as the storm kept pace with us.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. The yellow stripe with the blue sky, and the saturated colors on the other photo make for two stunning photos.

I grew up in tornado alley. I don’t really desire to be too close to a tornado. :)

Thank you summer picnic and Tim for your comments and stopping by. I certainly appreciate it! :)
