It’s A Bug’s Life

I was shooting upclose photos of daylilies when I notice this interesting insect. It noticed me too, and kept moving around. I couldn’t figure out what it had in its grasp until I viewed the photos later. The insect had another bug in its clasp to eat. And a fly followed along. I don’t have a clue what type of insects these are… the live one and the dead one. I searched on a bug website but didn’t find any bugs similar.

I can’t tell you what they are either, but I can tell you that I like the shots.

My mother in law knows her insect, native plants, and trees. A bug is a bug. And your photos are excellent.

Incredible photographs. I found one of these in my garden, too. Can’t seem to find out if it’s a good guy or a bad guy.

Hey if anyone does identify this critter I’d like to know. We put my daughter in bed tonight and one bit her in bed.

For all those wondering I think i have identified the critter that bites. It appears to be a wheel bug nymph. It says that they do bite and it hurts. It also stated that it is a beneficial bug.

I would love to know more about this bug, I was also bitten by this bug and have seen them all over my front deck. The bite did hurt and swell up like a bee sting, but didnt hurt as bad as a bee sting. someone told me it was an assassin bug, but i found a pic of one of those and thats not it. I really want to know if this is a bad bug or nothing to worry about. Thanks
