Abandoned

For the past 18 months, I have photographed many abandoned buildings, houses, farms, farm equipment, cars, trucks, remnants of towns, and dreams. Some things I had photographed are gone now, as they were torn down, razed, and returned to dirt. In the Abandoned video, there are photographs of abandoned things combined with mini movie clips by Preston. I had chosen only a small collection out of the large amount of abandoned buildings, houses, so on that I have photographed, and there are some photos that I haven’t posted that are in the video. I tend to be a recorder photographer of the past, of what has been abandoned, as I appreciate history, life lived, dreams dreamed, memories, humanity, nature along with the cycle of birth and death.
Watch the Abandoned video and see what you think and feel as to: What does abandoned mean to you?

I felt such sadness and it makes want to fix everything, make it whole again! Wonderful video! Bravo!

Born and raised in southern Kansas at the edge of the flinthills, I’ve seen a fair share of abandoned homesteads, towns that have died, and seen faces of the old ones disappear. Most of us are too busy to notice. I just want you to know that I appreciate what you’re doing.

Hi 3BD. Yes, there is a sadness. I always reflect on the lives lived and dreamed when photographing the abandoned. Thank you!
Hi Dave. Even though I wasn’t born in Kansas, I love it and the history, and call it home. I know what you mean about the old ones disappearing… yes. Thank you so very much.
Hi YB. Thank you!

Great blog. It’s just a shame people do things like this. All the best.
