This is a view of autumn trees and water reflections of a creek outlet of Lake Wabaunsee, Kansas. When I saw this while snapping the photo, I wondered where the water went or if it ended somewhere up ahead. I knew I was going to paint the photograph of this scene. I digitally painted the photo in watercolor with a slight diffusion. And it looks fabulous in a large size. This post/photo is for the water assignment by Scott Thomas at Views Infinitum.

{Edit to add, Oct. 22, 09: Original photo}
From the comments, there were those who had asked to see the original photo for a comparison to the painted photo above. And here it is.

My first impression was WOW!
Now I am listening to your water reflections. They are not only wet but talk too. My http://artbytomas.blogspot.com/ enjoy the message and I thank you for the sharing your art with all on a web
Beautiful image and scene, nicely captured !!
Beautiful! Painting was a good choise. I can imagine how nice it looks as large.
It looks as if it was raining a little, gently. Very painterly effect, and wonderful colors.
I’m of two minds about digital manipulation–maybe more than two minds. Part of me says this is really cool, and part of me longs to see “before and after” versions. (The other parts are still arguing. I won’t burden you.) I’ll be interested to read what everyone else has to say about it.
Beautiful, the watercolor image looks very dreamy. I’m like Gerry would love to see the before photo, the crisp sharp image of the autumn leaves must be very pretty.
Thanks so much for your visit to my site and your kind comments. Your photos are very beautiful. From the laundry to the dog – and then this neat representation of the water – it is easy to get lost in the simplicity that goes very deep. Sometimes I struggle to take pictures of the ordinary, because I think that they end up seeming so mundane, but yours, even though seemingly so ordinary, continue to draw me in. definitely something deeper there, I’ll just have to keep coming to visit, to find out what it is.
Thanks for participating, Anna! You’re getting good at this digital painting effect.
I love the colors on this one. It looks like it was taken on a cloudy day and I think it makes wonders with the colors. A sunny day at this time of the year can be like fireworks – wonderful, but sometimes too much. The dreamy look can sure make one reflect over many things on this earth.
I really like this!
I never think to try manipulations like this…maybe I will go play a little this afternoon. I agree with Gerry though…would love to see the original just to compare. I’m sure the difference is quite striking.
Lovely!!!

Hi Scott. I do like digital painting because there are endless possibilities in the medias, brushes, and creation. I’m just getting started. Thank you!
Hi Staffan. I know what you mean about the autumn colors are like fireworks… neat way of saying that, Staffan! Yes, a reflection over many things on this earth as you said. Thank you!
Hi kanniduba and welcome. Manipulations are fun. Thank you for commenting and stopping by.
Thanks for posting the original photo, looks as lovely as I’d suspected.
Wow! I REALLY like the second one… the look of the water, and the beautiful fall colors.
Hello Nye. I’m glad you liked the original. Thank you!
