I tend to drive down roads that are closed and unmaintained country roads. We have a 4×4 off-the-road truck (in which was dinged by the last hail storm). I’ve driven through mud, deep ruts and some low water but in some places, I fear to tread. This truck isn’t that old but it is getting some wear and tear from being driven in the ‘out-back’ places of Kansas. Last winter, it was great to jump into the truck to warm up after freezing ourselves to the bone to shoot some photos.

I like this stuff. Some years ago I had an old Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40, and loved the back river roads, and low water crossings. There wasn’t anything could stop it, and it was so rough I never had to worry about it much. Now I have a shiny new truck and can’t go wading with. Ah well, it more than makes up for it in other ways.

Hi Bo… Everything having to do with photography… from holding the camera to the final posted photo is joy. Yes, I agree, having fun with photos is a good recipe for happiness.

Robin–Layers are maddening! I’m learning what kinds of photos make good layering and those that don’t.

Paul–It does look like the flower and buds are submerged in water. I hadn’t thought of that perspective. Neat.

I’ve always loved Milne’s )and Pooh’s) wisdom. One of my favorites:

“Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them.”

And I remember reading once that Milne was asked if Pooh could come out to play and he said Pooh was too tired…
“After all, he traveled to Africa and back this morning.”

Nathaliewithanh, geez never had a compliment on my name before - kinda’ like it I do.

I bet you have many stories of lives saved and of the pains experienced of lives lost at your hospital. I imagine there are many stories of the owners of the animals whom visited your hospital.

I’ve been told that eating bananas repels mosquitoes. Perhaps garlic eaten repels fleas and everyone around you too. LOL And then there is tucking a sheet of Bounce fabric softener on you to repel the biting insects. I haven’t tried this. Perhaps I’ll eat a banana, a clove of garlic, and tuck Bounce on me and see if that works while out in the wild. It’ll do something for sure.

By the way, recently I was out on a shoot when something really big crashed through the bushes. Scared the whatever out of me. I don’t know what it was. After my heart slowed down, I was curious with my camera at the ready. But whatever it was had fled.
